Biography

As a geographer I am interested in interdisciplinary research on the interactions between atmosphere, biosphere and human societies with a special focus on agricultural ecosystems. I earned MSc and PhD degrees (2008 and 2013) from the University of Leipzig and Potsdam, Germany. I specialize in cropping systems modelling, spatial data analysis and in assessing climate change impacts on agriculture globally and in sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining CSIRO, I worked at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, applying and developing a global dynamic vegetation and water balance model in a group of model developers in Germany and The Netherlands. In December 2014 I started working as a postdoctoral fellow in Mario Herrero's group. My main activities are related to mapping subtropical and tropical agricultural systems and analyzing the importance of climate variability and extreme events for agriculture
