Biography

Dr. Heidi Shearin has served as the Director of Clinical Education and an Assistant Professor in the DPT Program since January 2013. Her primary duties include organization and oversight of the clinical education experiences and internships throughout the curriculum, as well as the development of student professional behaviors required in current health care practice. She is the president of the Carolina Clinical Education Consortium. Prior to joining Campbell, she served as adjunct faculty in a transitional DPT program and as the Program Chair and Academic Clinical Coordinator of Education of a Physical Therapist Assistant Program in North Carolina. She has provided numerous guest lectures in a physical therapy education program related to documentation, professional ethics, legal practice, and interprofessional collaboration. She has participated in clinical education in roles of increasing responsibility since 1987 and has served on a physical therapy educational program advisory board. Areas of teaching expertise include evidence-based medicine, radiography for physical therapists, foundational modalities and procedures, professional interactions, clinical education, health care resources, and pathophysiology for PTAs.
