Biography

Denise Stevens is President and founder of MATRIX Public Health Solutions (www.matrixphs.com), a small New Haven, Connecticut based public health “think and do organization” that provides technical assistance to governments (local, state, federal), industry, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and health care systems. She has an international reputation as a leader in health systems change initiatives related to chronic disease. Denise was the Director of Evaluation for Community Interventions for Health (an Oxford Health Alliance programme) which was the first and most comprehensive multinational pilot study focused on the use of structural interventions in combination with community coalition building, health education and social media to impact the burden of chronic disease (e.g. diabetes, heart disease, stroke and obesity) currently a global epidemic. As an epidemiologist and public health practitioner, Denise has designed programs, integrated evidence based practices into health care, conducted needs assessment and evaluation studies, as well as developed strategic plans for clients ranging from small organizations to large consortia nationally and internationally. Her work has led to international presentations and publications in peer reviewed journals.
