Dr. Anderson has had a longstanding career in neuroepidemiology at the NIH. In 1976, straight from graduate school, he joined the then National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke (NINCDS), first working in the Office of the Director and then later in the Intramural Research Program, where he headed a population studies unit. His interest was in epidemiologic studies of major neurological disorders, both in the United States and abroad. In the United States, he did some early work on health disparities. In 2003, Dr. Anderson came to the National Institute on Aging to take a position in the Extramural Program, where he manages a grant portfolio in the Division of Neuroscience, on the epidemiology of Alzheimer’s disease and age-related dementias. Dr. Anderson holds A.B. (Mathematics), M.P.H. (Biostatistics), and Ph.D. (Biostatistics) degrees from the University of Michigan (U-M).
