Biography

Greetings, my name is Chris Drown. I am a Registered Nurse and I have been employed as a lecturer at EIT since 1999 and have taken on a variety of roles during this time. I also gained my nursing diploma at EIT (Hawke’s Bay Polytechnic as it was known as) during 1992-1994, and have gained my Bachelor of Nursing degree and my post graduate qualifications here as well. I am currently studying for my Master of Health Science degree and my research interest is in the seclusion rates of Maori men in acute mental health services in Aotearoa. I enjoy time with my Partner in Life and our 3 young men (22, 19 and 16 years of age). I play and referee roller derby locally and around the country and enjoy watching football (the round ball kind). In my spare time I maintain a 1970 VW Fastback and a VW Beach Buggy. I love listening to music and play guitar. I am developing this skill as part of the waiata sessions which are held on campus every two weeks.I am a passionate educator who enjoys contact with students and I get much satisfaction in my role at EIT. I am not that scary so feel free to contact me if you need to.

Research Intrest

Nursing Certificate of Health Science, and Contemporary Certificate of New Zealand Nursing Practice.
