Bruce Goode, Ph.D., is a Professor of Biology at Brandeis University and Editor-in-Chief of Cytoskeleton. He grew up in the San Francisco bay area, graduated with a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1988, and received his Ph.D. from the same institute in 1995. His Ph.D. work focused on the cytoskeleton and Alzheimer’s disease. Subsequently, he was as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, where his research focused on the actin cytoskeleton. He was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Brandeis University (located near Boston) in July 2000, promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2005, and promoted to Professor in 2010. He has published more than 75 peer-reviewed papers and has received scholar awards from the Pew Charitable Trust, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, and National Institutes of Health. He teaches courses on Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology, and is considered an authority on the cytoskeleton. His scientific interests are in the structure and function of cells and the mechanisms of their molecular parts. He has extensive expertise in studying the dynamics of cytoskeletal fibers and how they are regulated in yeast and mammalian cells. His lab takes a multi-disciplinary approach, combining genetics, biochemistry, live-cell imaging, electron microscopy, and multi-color single molecule TIRF microscopy.
