Ms. Belanger is President of Healthcare Standards Consultants, a firm specializing in laboratory accreditation preparation and adverse decision rectification, quality assessment and improvement activities, point of care testing, and managing quality through transition. She also works as a laboratory consultant with the Health Care Development Services, Inc. Ms. Belanger was the Executive Director of Laboratory Accreditation Services for the Joint Commission for 7 years. During her 20-year tenure at the Joint Commission, she served as a laboratory surveyor in the hospital accreditation program, directed the overall operations of the laboratory accreditation program, and lead the laboratory product line team. She was also the Joint Commission’s liaison with key federal and state laboratory agencies and leading laboratory professional organizations. Prior to her work with the Joint Commission, Ms. Belanger held managerial and supervisory positions at Mesa General Hospital, Mesa, Arizona; St. Mary Hospital, Livonia, Michigan; and Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Belanger was a principal member of the CLSI (formerly NCCLS) subcommittees on Laboratory Design and Unit Use Testing, as well as the National Fire Protection Association’s Committee on Chemistry Laboratories. She is a national speaker and author on various accreditation and laboratory topics. Ms. Belanger has an undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from the University of Dayton and a Masters Degree from Central Michigan University in Health Care Administration.
