Biography

Ato Solomon Abrha is a Lecturer within the School of Sociology and Social Work and Vice President for Administration. He gained his B.A. in Sociology in 2003 and his M.A. in Social Work in 2008 from Addis Ababa University. Ato Solomon joined the University of Gondar in xxxx as xxxxx. Prior to taking up his current position as Vice President for Administration Ato Solomon served in a range of positions within the University including Vice Dean of Students between 2004-2005; Dean of Students in 2005-2006; Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities between 2008-2009 and Member of the Academic Commisiion in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities between June 2004 and 2009. He currently continues to serve in a teaching capacity within the School of Sociology and Social Work. He is also a founding member of the Department of Sociology at the University of Gondar. During his time at the University he has taught a range of subjects including Classical Sociological Theories, Contemporary Sociological Theories, Social Welfare and Administration, Sociology of Deviance, Criminology and Correctional Administration, Methods of Social Intervention, Methods of Social Research, Social Policy and Planning and Leadership and Management.

Research Intrest

HIV/AIDS, Health related social problems, criminality, Migration, Homelessness and development.
