Dr. Samad research interests are in mathematical modelling, data/text mining, optimisation and computational intelligence and their applications including the facility location problem, clustering, vehicle routing, scheduling and timetabling, data mining and web log mining, use of artificial intelligence in interactive environments, object recognition and assisted living. I founded the optimisation and knowledge discovery research group (OPT-KD) in 2005 and co-founded the Virtual Reality and Assisted Living research group (Vir.AL) in 2012.
Clustering and location problems, Scheduling and Timetabling Problems, Modelling Optimisation problems and creating standards for benchmarks for timetabling, Very Large Neighbourhood Structures, Data Mining and web log mining, AI for Games and virtual reality
