Biography

Dr Ahlam Alshedoukhy is Canadian board trained and certified anatomical pathologist acquired FRCPC in 2000 Calgary – Canada, she also has subspecialisation training in the field of Dermato pathology from UCSF – USA in April 2005. Dr Alshedoukhy worked as a consultant pathologist and head of department in many institutions in Riyadh, including KKUH, SFH & NGAH and KFSH&RC before joining Alfaisal University as assistant professor in pathology. She has more than 15 years of teaching experience for under graduate students and 13 years for postgraduate students. She was appointed as chairwoman of the department of pathology and pharmacology, when she joined Alfaisal University COM in September 2011. She played a great role in developing the department, with regards to allocating excellent resources, developing internal policies and procedures, internal structural organization and fiscal budget. Her leadership and vision to develop a strong and productive department which functions under a subculture of respect, trust and valuing human potential, growth, and accomplishment; and manifesting a collective spirit is witnessed by the impressive quality of the academic teaching activity of the team in phase II and the high standard of faculty in the department. Dr Alshedoukhy was appointed as Phase II director, Member of assessment committee, and Member of curriculum committee on September 2011. Being the phase II director she was responsible for overseeing the development, progress and delivery of the academic activity of all the blocks in semester 3, 4, & 5. She worked closely with the curriculum, assessment committee and the students MSA leaders to develop and standardized the structure of blocks in phase II. She empowered students through making the channels of feedback and continuous communications with the team available and clearly defined in her communications with the MSA representatives. Dr Alshedoukhy is developing her interest in medical education especially with regards to the undergraduate study and education of pathology and laboratory medicine. She feels passionate about returning the many favours that she owes to her beloved country in trying to make a difference to the standard of medical care by planting the seeds of hunger for knowledge, competitiveness toward excellence in the medical students.
